Protect the Perineum for Birth
Hosted by My Pelvic Floor Muscles. For Healthcare Professsionals
Pregnant mothers are often under prepared for the pushing part of labor, which may contribute to many hours of ineffective pushing, long term damage or pelvic floor weakness, preventable tearing, medical interventions or even a cesarean birth. This is due in part to a lack of understanding of and limited preparation for optimal pushing. I created my workshop, Pushing Power to educate and empower women about their own bodies, especially for the pushing part of labor!
In my unique classes you will learn the essential role of the pelvic floor muscles and how they help the baby to get into the birth ready position. We will determine how the pelvis and baby interact during birth and how to make more space for the baby. We will discover what the "2nd Stage" of labor is and explore strategies to help the pushing part be more easeful and shorter and reduce perineal trauma. We will review breath and practice positions for effective pushing and how best to prepare the pregnant body for the push and a full postpartum recovery.
Whether an epidural or unmedicated birth is planned; my workshop will leave you feeling confident and empowered.
My goal is to provide relevant and evidence based information about 2nd Stage Labor in a clear and insightful way.

The journey of giving birth is undeniably one of the most profound events in a woman's life, often accompanied by apprehension, especially concerning the aspects of pushing and tearing.
In the class - I will show the relationship between the shape of the pelvis and childbirth. I will discuss how the role of the pelvic floor helps the baby navigate through the bony structures. You will discover a relevant part of the body that is often ignored but is an essential key part of labor. We will explore what the second stage of labor is and what is really going on with the pelvis, the baby and the pelvic floor .
Childbirth subjects the female perineum to significant stretching and pressure, an experience with lasting consequences. However, armed with proactive preparation, attention, and knowledge, this region of the body can be well cared for.
You will learn how to protect the perineum during delivery. Whether you are an expectant mother or a healthcare professional, this class aims to enhance your understanding and readiness, empowering you to better support pregnant clients during the birthing process – with or without an epidural.
